Brain Disorders

Brain disorders are different in a sense to mental, or personality disorders. In this case, by brain disorder I mean a physical deformity of the brain. This can vary from injuries, atrophy of the organ itself, cancer, tumors, etc. Most brain injuries are caused by blunt force trauma to the head. Any damage to the brain can effect it's ability to communicate with the rest of the body. Damage to the brain can effect almost any other bodily function. That's why it is so crucial to keep this organ protected.

This is what a perfectly normal, healthy brain looks like.

Damage to the brain can cause many problems for the victim. Any form of damage to any part can have major consequences. There are so many different disorders and illnesses that apply here that no one source could list them all. Here are a few notable ones.
  • CTE - Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is a neurodegenerative disease caused by repeated head injuries. Symptons include; behavioral problems, mood problems, and problems with thinking. Symptons do not usually begin until years later, this condition often leads to dementia.
  • Dementia - This is a wide term that has to do with problems with memory, language, and other thinking skills.
  • Alzheimers - This is a brain disorder that causes brain cells to degenerate, and die. This is the most common cause of dementia, which causes a continuous decline in a person's thinking.
  • CJD - creutzfeldt yakov disease is a violently fast neurodegenerative disease, that leads to dementia and death. This is like the human form of "mad cow disease".
